Some may have met the following two situations:

  • You and your colleagues are on a business trip and share the same room, but there is only one network cable in the hotel room. Only one computer can access the Internet, what should I do if I have no wireless network device?
  • There is an ADSL Broadband in the House (not limited to ADSL, but other access methods are also acceptable), there is no wireless router, but there are more than two computers to access the Internet at the same time, what should I do?
  • In the past, if this was the case, one computer may be allowed to access the Internet. However, even if there is no wireless network device, two or more computers can access the Internet at the same time. Before introducing how to solve the above problems, let's summarize the network environment in the above two cases to help determine whether this method is suitable for you.
  • No wireless Internet access devices such as wireless routers
  • One computer can access the Internet
  • All computers have wireless NICs, and the host must also have a wired Nic
  • Host should be installedWindowsVista operating system, it is best to install Vista on other computers. If it is another operating system, you can perform the corresponding operations as follows.

The basic principle is to first connect a computer (called the computer as a host) to the Internet, share the Internet connection, and then create a temporary wireless network on the computer, other computers can connect to the Internet by accessing the temporary wireless network. The procedure is as follows.

1. Create a temporary Wireless Network

Choose Control Panel> network and sharing center> set connection or network. Dialog Box 1 is displayed.

In Figure 4, select the connection option-"set wireless temporary (computer to computer) network", and click "Next" twice in succession, as shown in dialog box 2.

Click "Next" on the basis of Figure 5 to complete the settings of the temporary wireless network.

2. Connect one of the computers to the Internet

No matter what type of network service (ADSL) is used, first connect the host to the Internet and confirm the normal network connection.

3. Share the Internet connection

After the host is connected to the Internet, Open Control Panel> network and sharing center. The Dialog Box 3 is displayed.

Select "manage network connections" in the "task" list on the left. Dialog Box 4 is displayed.

In Figure 4, find the broadband connection on the computer, that is, the wired network connection. The name of the wired network connection I used in the test is "Broadband connection 2 ". Right-click the connection property and open the share tab, as shown in Figure 5.

5. Check items 1st and 3rd. The Internet connection of the host has been shared and can be accessed by other computers. NOTE: If shared is set for the first time, this setting takes effect only during the next connection. That is to say, if you want the connection to take effect immediately, you must first disconnect the network and then reconnect.

Note that if both computers are runningWindowsVista, the network name can contain Chinese characters. However, if a computer runs on another operating system, we recommend that you only use English letters and numbers to display the name correctly.

In addition, when selecting a security type, you also need to note that the optional security type depends on the wireless standard supported by the wireless network card. You cannot directly use a higher security type because the host's network card supports a higher standard, because it is also necessary to ensure that other computers can connect to the host through a wireless network. Therefore, when selecting a wireless standard, you can only select all the standards supported by all computers. If you are not clear about the wireless standard supported by wireless NICs, how can you set it? It doesn't matter if you don't know. We can enable the "unauthenticated (open)" Security type, as shown in Figure 5.

If the "Save this network" option is selected, the network will beWindowsSave it. This is suitable for multiple accesses. However, if you only use this network once, you can not save the network.

4. Connect other computers to the "temporary wireless network"

So far, all the settings of the host have been ready. Now, you only need to find the "temporary wireless network" on another computer and connect it to the host. Choose Control Panel> network and sharing center> connect to the network. In the displayed dialog box, you can see the "temporary wireless network", as shown in figure 6. If not, check whether the "temporary wireless network" on the host is connected. If not, connect first.

After other computers are connected to the host, all computers can be connected to the Internet!

The above method uses the P2P Technology in Vista, which may be of little interest, but it is a very practical technology. A wireless temporary network is a work mode of a Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi wireless networks can be deployed in two modes: Ad Hoc and Base Station ). Generally, most of the wireless networks we connect to in the company or home belong to the base station access mode. This requires that a network device be able to provide wireless access services, such as wireless routers and wireless switches. However, in the free direct connection mode, it is much simpler. No wireless network devices are required at all. A wireless network can be created between client devices compatible with WiFi wireless networks, and use this network to complete all the functions that can be achieved by the base station to access the network.

If this is not a one-time connection, that is, you need to use this method to access the Internet for a period of time, in addition to "save this network" in Figure 2, each time you disconnect the network and reconnect, you must perform the following operations in sequence:

(1) Ensure that wireless networks of all computers are enabled;

(2) ensure that the host is connected to the Internet normally;

(3) ensure that the "temporary wireless network" on the host has been properly connected (you need to reconnect each time );

(4) ensure that other machines are connected to the "temporary wireless network" (each time they need to be reconnected ).
