The linked Server is very useful for cross-database/cross-Server queries (such as in a distributed database system). This article will illustrate how to use SQL Server Management Studio to create a linked Server in a graphic interface.

1. Expand the Server Object --> link server --> right-click "new link server"

Note: You must log on as a database administrator (usually the sa account) before creating a "linked server"

2. Enter the IP address of the linked server

3. Set the security of the linked server

After completion, such:

Test now, log on to SqlServer locally with the account user, create a query, and enter

Select * From [linked server name]. [remote database name]. [owner]. [Table name]

For example

Select * from [127.0.0.1]. [cntvs]. [dbo]. [t_class]

No problem, you can query the data.
