I. completely remove the optical drive and use a USB flash drive for Installation

When using a CD, you must burn the ISO file to a CD, and the CD you burn is quite unstable. Even if the CD is stable, the duration of the optical drive is quite unstable. USB flash drives are so cheap and have enough capacity. Why not use USB flash drives?

The idea is good, but the implementation is not that simple. I have spent more than a whole day on this issue. The original idea is very simple. Find a winpe boot disk on the Internet, for example, Si Yuan, for example, the Chinese cabbage directly generates a USB flash drive. However, it turns out that Windows 7 cannot be installed successfully. Let's talk a little bit about it. Just give your experience. First install Windows 7 and then install Ubuntu 11.04.

1. After WINPE2003 is started, Windows 7 cannot be directly installed through the Virtual optical drive. When the installation location is selected, an error cannot be located.

2. Use Windows Kernel installed with WINPE2003. This is critical, otherwise you will spend a lot of time looking for the problem.

3. Do not use win7pe for installation, but it is hard to find win7pe disks online.

4. I want to generate a Ubuntu 11.04 installation USB flash drive in Windows. Theoretically, this is not the case. Whether you use UtraISO, univeral USB, or netbootbin or another tool, all usb-creator included in Ubuntu fail and cannot be started (My usb flash drive is KingStone 2G ). I have to despise Ubuntu. You can't even bring your own usb-creator, but it is normal in linux.

Even the Boot Method of Ubuntu's built-in help optical drive fails. In the end, you can only wubi A Ubuntu system, and it is OK to generate the installation disc in the Ubuntu system. Delete the file and reinstall it. If you want to use a USB flash drive to install Ubuntu, you 'd better find a Ubuntu system first and use the method of creating the installation disk in it. Otherwise, it will go to Wndows, A lot of time is wasted. If not, you only need to install a system using wubi according to my method, generate an installation disk, and then unload it.

5. I used UtraISO as a floppy disk image to install the U disk. I can use it after writing it to the USB disk. Completely eliminate the installation method of the optical drive (it is hard to eliminate the optical drive), so that the next installation will not worry about the failure to generate the Ubuntu boot disk.

2. Install Ubuntu 11.04, plan disks, and install common software.

Before planning a disk, you must first know that Windows 7 cannot understand the ext4 partition of Ubuntu. However, Ubuntu can identify and automatically load the ntf or fat32 partition of Windows. After knowing this fact, it is easy to plan the disk. Aside from leaving enough space for Ubuntu, the rest will be formatted as ntfs, in this way, Windows 7 and Ubuntu can be accessed freely, which is quite convenient. Ubuntu is doing quite well! 1. My disk Planning and System Installation

My hard disk is GB. I divide it into two primary partitions, one logical partition and one linux dedicated swap partition. The partition size should not be too small. Otherwise, it will be very troublesome if the space is not enough. The current software is very large!

The first primary partition is in the ntfs format of 50 GB.

The second primary partition is in the format of 40 GB, ext4, and Ubuntu 11.04.

The third primary partition is a 2G swap format, dedicated swap partition for Ubuntu 11.04, my memory is 2G, so the same memory proportion is used, and the page file for Windows 7 is also 2G. So I set them to the same for fair comparison.

The remaining space is used as a logical partition, and the data disk shared by the two systems must be in the ntfs format, so that the two systems can be freely accessed. Pretty good!

Upgrade kernel to 2.6.38-10

Install the flash plug-in firefox4 (through the Ubuntu Software Center), and then download the latest version 5 in firefox to replace the original version 4.

2. Install the Nvidia driver

6. after installing the latest version of wine 1.3, I feel that the improvements are very obvious. This surprised me. It is a pity that the ESoundD driver is removed from the sound support, and the ESoundD is required, so that the plants and botnets can have sound throughout the whole process. 7. however, in terms of downloading software, Thunder is still a pain point, and thunder is still unable to work in wine. This is not a software issue, but a resource issue. At present, there is no second company that can do this, so thunder is irreplaceable.

8. When downloading Ubuntu bt using qbttorent, it seems that the speed is much better than the default system. The linux version has weak functionality compared with the Windows version, but meets the requirements of http, ftp downloads are lighter and better. As for bt, mule has never expected flashget. Just a download software that almost everyone needs to access the Internet, linux has suffered a terrible loss. The old software, such as thunder, bitcomet, and flashget, either doesn't support linux at all or doesn't support it very well. From this perspective, linux cannot compete with Windows. I cannot understand the thinking of these software either. You say something like Microsoft that does not intentionally go out of linux is for the benefit. Why don't your app companies go out of the linux version or even the mobile version or the pad version, but the linux version is not developed or is progressing slowly? From the perspective of interests, the benefits of these software come from the number of users. As long as the number of users increases, the benefits naturally come, and do not need to care about whether users are charged or free operating systems. Is there really very few linux users, is it a negligible group?

10. easymule of vercd can work in linux Through wine (but the chance of crash is high), and the speed is quite fast. Now we can finally find an imperfect alternative of thunder (I used thunder mainly to download verycd books ). Easymule also has a linux version, but after my trial, I found that there is no easymule download speed for wine! This is ironic. It also reflects that the easymule development team is too amateur in terms of linux programming. Of course, it also shows that there are still too few qualified linux programmers in China.

11. We have succeeded in previewing the QQ2009 version through wine (deep modification version), and the results are very good!

The key to success is to install the required DLL and components, including ie6 and msxml3, and copy the fonts in Windows to the fonts directory in wine through winetricks, then, run the QQ version with deep modification. The QQ version with this modification feels like running the official international version of QQ under Windows 7, which is very lightweight and fast. Far better than QQ for linux and web qq! Although the official web QQ support is good, it is just a toy. When you open two QQ games at the same time and chat quickly, you will find that the experience is very poor. 12. The latest bitcomet1.28 version is installed in wine, which basically runs normally. The speed is the same as that in Windows. It is an ugly interface. I am quite satisfied with it. It is faster than qTorrent in linux. There is almost no regret for this.

13. The Proxy software must be installed. I have installed the freedom series, and currently the best Proxy software. In fact, the purpose of my Proxy software is not to access illegal websites, but to shield many foreign websites with source code. For example, the famous open-source website sourcefrog is blocked, and sometimes some software upgrades under unbunt fail. Unfortunately, this software does not have a linux version, but fortunately, it works well through wine, but it cannot adopt the encrypted drive mode. It also comes with upgrades and is very easy to use.

14. To work with the Proxy software, I used the system's firefox to set Proxy to access the Internet by default, because firefox setting Proxy can be unrelated to system Proxy settings. Other programs are not affected.

Then I downloaded the goole chrome browser. It turns out that this browser is very lightweight and fast. Although it does not have many functions, it is often used.
