Insert an object linked to a file in Word2010

You can insert an object that is linked to a file in a Word2010 document, and objects inserted into the Word document will also be updated when the original file that is linked is updated. Files that are embedded in a Word document cannot be synchronized with the original file. To insert an object that is linked to a file in a Word2010 document, the steps are described below:

Step 1th, open the Word2010 document window and position the insertion cursor where you want to insert the object. Switch to the Insert ribbon and click the Object button in the text group, as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1 Click the object button in step 2nd to open the Object dialog box and switch to the Create by File tab. Click the browse button to locate and select the file you want to insert into the Word2010 document, select the link to file check box, and click OK, as shown in Figure 2.

Double-click the object to open the original program window for editing. Tip: If the link to file check box is not selected on the Create by File tab, the object is edited by activating the original Program menu command in the Word document window after you double-click the object.
