Samba introduction in UNIX systems, Samba is a software package that shares files and prints services between computers on the network through Server Message Block protocol (SMB. Server Message Block (SMB) is a client Server protocol located at the application layer. it is a standardized protocol for Windows file sharing and printing services. Files and printers can be shared between two computers. Samba is an open-source software that can be used by any user with the GNU organization's general public license GPL and obtain its source code and executable files for free. 2. install yum install Samba samba with two daemon processes: smbd and nmbd -- smbd listens to 139 TCP ports -- nmbd listens to 137 and 138 UDP ports. the smbd process processes SMB request packets and is responsible for user authentication and file sharing; the nmbd process processes browsing and sharing and computer name parsing. In Fedora17, both commands start Samba:/sbin/smbd start/sbin/nmbd start in the/sbin directory to restart Samba: /sbin/smbd restart/sbin/nmbd restart 3. Samba configuration mainly involves editing/etc/Samba/smb. conf file. Samba has four configuration items: 1. global is mainly used to set global environment variables, if it is simple to use, you can use homes to configure access to the/home/user directory for each user. 3. configure printer sharing for printers. 4. configure shared folders for public: path =/Documents writable = yes valid user = username share/Documents folder, where username can access this folder and its permission is writable. 4. firewall configuration 1. iptables firewall 2. if SELinux implements homes sharing, run the following command: setsebool-P samba_enable_home_dirs on: chcon-t samba_cmd_t shared directory 5. users configured to access samba file sharing must be existing users in the system and set a password for samba file sharing: smbpasswd-a username 6. View samba running and access status smbstatus
