If you like the two desktops, follow the tutorial below to install them.
Cinnamon 2.2.0 has PPA available, so it is very easy for users to install. Open the terminal and enter the following command:
Sudo add-apt-repository ppa: gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable
Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get install cinnamon
Restart the system and select Cinnamon on the welcome page.
Install Mate 1.8. Use the following command to install the SDK through a third-party Library:
Echo "deb http://repo.mate-desktop.org/archive/1.8/ubuntu $ (lsb_release-cs) main" | sudo tee/etc/apt/sources. list. d/mate-desktop.list
Wget-qO-http://mirror1.mate-desktop.org/debian/mate-archive-keyring.gpg | sudo apt-key add-

Sudo apt-get install mate-core mate-desktop-environment mate-notification-daemon
Similarly, restart the system and select "Mate" on the welcome page.
