You can use either the ext3 or ext2 file system, or select noatime for the mount option of the/partition. Finally, select only the basic package when installing the software package, so that the installation process can be faster. After the system is started, install xfce4. This small desktop system is more suitable for eee pc.

4. After the system is installed, the sources. list file has been set to OK, but it is lenny's source (testing ). We recommend that you add the etch source because the gqview is not included in lenny. So we can proceed with the next step.

Aptitude install necessary software: xfce4 vim-gnome kopete xpdf kpdf kchmviewer xchm qterm lftp openssh-server curl tor privoxy python2.5 mplayer gqview fcitx (these are commonly used) the installation process of some software can be viewed here. The solution is as follows:

That is, use madwifi-eeepc-source instead of madwifi-source.

6. The system cannot be shut down normally after installation. After shutdown, both the system power lamp and wifi lamp are on. The solution is as follows:
1) (root) aptitude install acpi-suppport
2) edit the/etc/default/acpi-support file and Set MODULES to "snd_hda_intel"

7. Now the system is basically available, so I don't want to worry about it. Xfce4 does save a lot of system resources. It takes up to MB of memory to open FireFox to view webpages and edit documents in openoffice. The processing capability of this small machine is limited. In fact, there is no need to abuse it so it is enough. Currently, the camera is not available due to a bug, so we are not in a rush. 8. the startup speed is not as fast as the original system, but it is enough. You can get to xfce4 in 15 s. By the way, don't forget to cut off the exim4 appendix.
