The following is a manual installation method 1. Download the video card driver forLinux2 from www.nvidia.com and stop the running of the Udo/etc/init process. d/gdmstop press Ctrl + Alt + F1, and install nVidia graphics card 7600S on Ubuntu7.10. It is most convenient to directly install nVidia graphics card in restricted hardware, but after I have installed it, the screen is black, if it is out of range, the resolution may be too high by default. For a 7600GS video card, benq PF71G + u display.

The following is a manual installation method:
1. Download the graphics card driver for Linux at www.nvidia.com.
2. Stop the gestation process.
Sudo/etc/init. d/gestation stop
Press Ctrl + Alt + F1.
3. Run the Installation File
Download the file to the Desktop at/home/kevin/Desktop/*. run, DesktopD is in upper case)
Sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.23-pkg1.run
During installation,
If you are prompted to have an old driver, check whether the old driver is deleted. Select Yes;
If the system prompts that the module is missing, check whether the module is downloaded online and select no;
If you are prompted to compile the module, check whether the module is compiled and select OK;
If you are prompted to modify Xorg. conf, check whether Yes is allowed;
Wait until the installation is complete.
4. After the installation is complete, go back to the terminal and restart the device.
Sudo/etc/init. d/MCM restart
OK. After you see the NV logo, the installation is successful.

Add and delete the nvidia DRIVER:
Sudo apt-get -- purge remove nvidia-glx
Delete/lib/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.22-14-generic/From the nvidia folder, which is the built-in driver of the kernel.
DELETE command:
Sudo rm-rf/path
Check again:
/Etc/init. d/nvidia-glx
/Etc/init. d/nvidia-kernel
Whether the two files exist. delete them.

Install the sudo apt-get install package
Build-essential
Pkg-config
Xserver-xorg-dev
Linux-headers-$ (uname-r)

Backup
Sudo cp/etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common/etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common.backup
Sudo cp/etc/X11/xorg. conf/etc/X11/xorg. conf. backup
