Article title: Introduction to creating ADSL dial-up Internet access in Linux. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Includes basic categories such as desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems, and open source.
Before using linux to create an adsl dial-up connection, we need to check whether the pppoe rpm Package is installed on our computer.
If you use the command above, the package name for the rp-pppoe-3.5-32.1 is not displayed. we need to install it manually. if your linux version is later than AS 4. you can find the software package in the first CD. you can run the following command:
Rpm-ivh rp-pppoe-3.5-32.1.i386.rpm let's install them.
Installed. Run the adsl-setup command to enable the configuration wizard. in the prompt wizard, enter the required information as prompted.
The first step is to enter our ADSL name. here I enter adsl_test
Step 2: configure the name of the network adapter to connect to ADSL: eth1
In step 3, we need to configure the dial-up type. if you are a subscription user, you can set to stay online. you can change the type you need based on your actual situation: No
Step 4: set our DNS address if you know our DNS address. you can enter your own address. if you do not know, enter "Server" here, which means that when the dial is successful, the IP address is automatically obtained from the ISP:
Step 5 enter our ADSL password:
In step 6, we need to select whether to allow normal users to connect to and disconnect ADSL. here we choose NO
In step 7, select the firewall type. you can use iptables to customize firewall rules. For this reason, enter "0" here and do not start the firewall.
In step 8, we need to configure whether to enable the ADSL dial-up connection when the system is started. for debugging, I select NO here. NO connection is required during startup.
Step 9: confirm to save the settings. the configuration page will output the information we just configured. if the configuration is correct, enter "y". The Configuration Wizard will automatically generate the configuration file.
