Lesson 8 Vmotion8-1 Vmotion Introduction
VMotion provides the ability to perform a live migration of
A VM from the one ESXi host to another ESXi host without service
Interruption. This is a no-downtime operation; network
Connections is not dropped and applications continue
running uninterrupted. In fact, the end users does not know
And is not aware, the VM has been migrated between
Physical ESXi hosts. When do vMotion to migrate a VM
From one ESXi host to another ESXi host, this means you also
Migrate the resource allocation-cpu and memory-
From one host to another.
according to the power state to divide , It is divided into Thermal Migration and cold migration
according to the function to divide , It is divided into host migration , Storage Migration , simultaneous migration with host storage
Note : Host storage migration only cold migration
Conditions of 8-2 Vmotion
In summary, there are three points:
1 shared storage
2 Assigning the Vmtion Vmkernel interface (requires a network bandwidth of gigabit and the same network configuration as the source and destination host)
3 requires the same CPU for different hosts
8-3 Storage vmtion Migration
We migrated the win2003-1 from local disk to the ISCSI SAN in the same host
