Security personnel from Secunia have discovered critical security defects in the Linux kernel. This version of Linux kernel is used by a large number of distribution kits.

This vulnerability contains three bugs that allow unauthorized users to read or write data to the kernel memory location or access certain resources. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability to create DoS attacks, disclose confidential information and even obtain root permissions.

This vulnerability affects all versions of Linux kernel 2.6.24.1. One of the patches still does not work. The distribution kits that apply the kernel include Ubuntu, Turbolinux, SuSE, Red Hat, and Mandriva, debian and so on, almost covering the vast majority of Linux distribution products.
