The first rc version of 2.6.25 cannot wait until Linux 2.6.24 is released within half a month.
Although it was only half a month, the 2.6.25-rc1 change was amazing: for the original kernel, it had a total of 1.4 million lines of modifications, and the total size of these changes was 11 MB.
Of course, these changes did not occur in the last half month, mainly because the 2.6.24 development cycle is too long, so many patches and changes have been accumulated. So after 2.6.24 was released, these changes were applied to 2.6.25, so 2.6.25-rc1 had such a huge change. Linus Torvalds must have worked very hard to merge.
Specific improvements to 2.6.25-rc1 are of course updates to the architecture and drivers. The Intel Graphics driver supports native pending/restoring operations (without the support of X), ACPI and other pending/restoring changes.
I don't know if these changes can solve the problem that some machines will not be able to wake up when they are suspended. At least Linus says that Intel Graphics-driven native suspension/restoration support is applicable on his laptop.
