frontpage| a shared border is the area on the site where one or more pages are shared. A shared border may be an area at the top of a page (similar to a page header), bottom (similar to a page footer), to the left, or to the right. Shared borders are the fastest, most flexible, and easiest way to create a Web page with a consistent look.
Using a shared border, you can put the same content into multiple pages in one step, rather than editing each page individually, it's easy to get home.
For example, to quickly place a logo on the top of each page on a site or to change the copyright considerations for a Web site with 300 Web pages, you can set the top border and footer to be shared, and then add the pattern and copyright notices to the top box and footer. It's all done!
The following is an example of using a shared border:
Add a page banner to the shared top border to make sure that each page has a title;
Add a company logo on the shared top border;
Add a navigation bar to let site visitors have access to the site's home page details (if you add a navigation bar, it appears in a shared border.) Otherwise, you will notice that you are prompted to add content, at which point you can select the note and press Del to delete it. )
Add a copyright notice to the shared bottom border;
Add the date and time the site was last modified;
Add replies with e-mail addresses, such as the site administrator's e-mail address.
The advantage of using shared borders is that you can update all pages with just one change in the content!
Shared borders has been seen in FrontPage 98. You can place any object, such as a text picture, in a shared border.
A shared border is actually a Web page, but it is embedded in every page that applies a shared border. Shared borders in FrontPage 2000 are marked with dashed lines.

Let's take a look at how to make a shared border page.
1, open FrontPage 2000, click the menu "File/New/Site", in the Pop-up template window to select the site template you need to confirm. Note that if you only edit a page by using FrontPage 2000 alone, you won't be able to use a shared border.
2, click the menu "format/shared Border" pop-up Shared border Settings window. Here, select the page that the shared border will apply to, either for all pages or for the selected page (the current edit page). Shared borders can be applied to the top, bottom, left, and right of the page, and you can set them according to your actual needs. Generally, the navigation bar of a page is set above or to the left of the page, so you can click on the "Include Navigation button" item. Here's a reminder, if you have to put the navigation bar to the right, will be out of the page boundaries and so that visitors want to drag the scroll bar to complete browsing, you should not be so annoying it? When you are set up, click OK.

This is the simple two-step, shared borders have been applied to every page of your site.

Once you've set up a shared border, you can add content, and you can change or delete content at any point in the shared border.

First, open the page that uses the shared border that you want to modify.

Then in Page view, click the shared border area, which is a dotted area. When you click within the area, the outline becomes a solid line.

You can then change the contents of the inner area of the shared border. For example, type text or add a picture.

When you are satisfied, click Save File, and the changes will appear on all pages that share the border.

You can use the site's default shared borders, or you can set up shared borders for individual pages. For example, the default setting for a site might be to share the top and left borders, and each new page would have these shared borders. However, if you do not want to use a shared border on some pages, you can turn it off.

If you want to cancel a shared border on a page, then in the Folder List window (if you don't see the relevant window, click the menu "View" and select "Folder" Item). , click the page file that you want to remove the shared border from. Then click on the menu "format/shared Border" or in the Edit page state Right-click, select the "Shared Border" item in the pop-up shortcut menu, pop up the shared Border Settings window, apply the selected shared border to cancel, click OK after the page shared border application is canceled. Of course, you just canceled the shared borders on this page the shared borders of other pages still exist.

If you want to revert to applying a shared border to the page, the 2nd step of applying the shared border is repeated after you click the page file. In the same way, you can also cancel the shared borders of all the pages.

A shared border is a page, and you can certainly edit it as you would any other page.

In general, we can edit shared borders directly in a page where shared borders are applied, which is a common method. However, you cannot view the HTML code for a shared border page.

You can also click the menu tool/Site Settings, click the "Advanced" tab in the Site Settings window, tick the box before "Show documents in hidden Directories", and click "OK" and refresh the site.

There is a _borders directory in the Folder List window, click on the directory, and the contents of the directory appear on the left. The content here is the shared border page. If you apply the top, bottom, and left, then you will see three pages, double-click a page to edit it.
