Recently, Baidu data center has launched an industry data analysis report (http://data.baidu.com), the report depends on the data, naturally is the keywords that netizens entered when using the baidu search engine, through cookies technology, the correlation between keywords can be obtained and then analyzed.
It should be said that such analysis behavior itself is not a big problem (it can be called Web data mining or network data mining). However, the biggest problem is that, is this report really useful for the industry?
In some industries, such as drinks, who will output keywords such as Coca-Cola in the input column because they want to drink Coca-Cola? Therefore, the vast majority of users are not customers of Coca-Cola when entering the key words of Coca-Cola. They may be students who want to write papers in universities, it may be marketing activities that want to learn Coca-Cola marketing strategies. Therefore, for such an industry, this report based on internet users' search behavior is unconvincing.
For other industries, such as online games, automobiles, and Internet users, when searching for content related to these fields, they are indeed targeting the vast majority of products. For such enterprises, this report is helpful.
Therefore, if Baidu wants to earn "external blocks" by searching users, the first step to solve the problem-data reliability is the most important thing. In the existing mode that relies solely on cookies, such data is useless in some industries.
