2 new Lumia can be upgraded to Windows 10, but whether the feature is supported depends on the hardwareJanuary 23, 2015, 10:25 am-Picturepan2

Microsoft discussed the issue of whether Lumia phones could be upgraded to Windows 10 in the Lumia conversations blog. Chris Weber, vice president of sales at Microsoft Mobile devices, first talked about Windows 10 Mobile, a unified system platform and a new built-in universal application – cross-device experience and data synchronization across devices.

As to whether to upgrade, Chris Weber mentions that including the latest Lumia 435, Lumia 735 or flagship Lumia 930 can be upgraded to Windows 10. Microsoft's goal is to get most wp8/wp8.1 Lumia phones running Windows 10:

Just like any new platform upgrade, not all phones will upgrade or support all Windows 10 features, and some features and experiences require more advanced hardware for the future. Our goal is to bring the vast majority of wp8/wp8.1 phones into the Windows ecosystem of hundreds of millions of PCs, tablets and other devices.

But from this point of view, most of the Lumia owners do not have to worry, at most, a few features are not supported, such as the need for coprocessor support features. But Chris Weber's words also suggest that there may be individual models that may be unfortunate, perhaps due to the fact that operators are abandoning older devices – and are not sure yet, so wait until next month's preview version of Windows 10 Mobile.

Microsoft Terry Myerson also confirmed that Microsoft will have new devices and flagship handsets later this year. (via Lumia)

The Verge confirms from Microsoft that the Surface Pro product line will get the Windows 10 update, but Windows RT cannot get the full operating system: "We are preparing an update for Surface that will include some Windows 10 features and will soon have more Information ". This means that surface RT and surface 2 may not have a Windows 10 update.

Microsoft is also refusing to say what the Windows RT update is, perhaps support for the Windows 10 Universal app, or whether there are special plans not to announce the time, or the kind of consolation update that WP7.8. Windows RT is dead? (via the Verge)
