　　1. Hardware to be prepared

　　2. Install NICs

3. Dormitory broadband initial experience

　　(1) set hardware connection

During the ADSL Internet access process, the purchased devices generally include an ADSL Modem, a network cable, and two telephone lines. We connect the 201 telephone line to the ADSL port of the ADSL Modem (Figure 1), and connect the Phone port of the ADSL Modem with the telephone line (in this way, we can achieve Internet access and telephone errors ), connect the Ethernet port of the ADSL Modem to the NIC of the computer.

2) create a dial-up connection

Like using a common fixed telephone ADSL to access the Internet, you need to create a dial-up connection before using the 201 telephone ADSL to access the Internet in the dormitory. Take Windows XP as an example. There are two ways to create a dial-up connection: one is to install specialized ADSL dialing software, such as EnterNet, WinPoET, and RASPPPOE, you can download it from various software websites. The other is to use the built-in tools of Windows XP to create a dial-up connection.

The boss chooses the latter method to create a dial-up connection. The procedure is as follows:

Step 1: click "network connection> network task> Create a new connection> Create Connection Wizard> connect to Internet> set my connections manually" in the "control panel ".

Step 2: In the Internet connection window, select "connect with a broadband connection that requires the user name and password" and enter the ISP name, for example, "ADSL Broadband ".

Step 3: Enter the username (that is, the card number of the ADSL campus network card), password, and password (that is, the password of the ADSL campus network card) in sequence ). Finally, click "finish" to create the dial-up connection.

Tip: After the dial-up is established, you only need to click "Start> connect> ADSL Broadband> connect" to access the Internet each time to experience the broadband on Campus (figure 2 ).

　　1. Set up a LAN

There are many ways to build a LAN, including twisted pair wires, hubs, switches, and wireless devices. Considering that computers may be added to the dormitory, as well as the ease of installation and low price of switches, and other factors (eight vswitches can be purchased at around 100 yuan), the boss chose to build a LAN Using a vswitch. The procedure is as follows:

Step 1: Prepare the switch and network cable before networking. Generally, several computers in the LAN need several network cables. In addition, a network card must be installed on each computer and connected to the switch port respectively using the network cable.

Step 2: to install the corresponding protocol for each computer in the LAN (assuming Windows XP is used), first open the "Network Connection" window, right-click "Local Connection ", select "Properties> General> install", select "protocol", add "NetBEUI protocol", and click "OK" for installation.

　　Tip: by default, the "NetBEUI protocol" is not displayed in the select Network Protocol window. We can install the "nbf. copy the sys file to the % SYSTEMROOT % SYSTEM32DRIVERS directory, and then copy "netnbf. copy the inf file to the % SYSTEMROOT % INF directory.

Step 3: Also on the "General" tab, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", select "Use the following IP Address" in the Properties window, and enter the IP address, for example, 192.168.0.1 (Figure 3) can also be set to 192.168.0.2 ~ Any address between 192.168.0.255. The subnet mask is generally 255.255.255.0. The default gateway can be set as needed.

　　Tip: the IP addresses of each computer in the LAN cannot be repeated. Otherwise, a conflict may occur.

Step 4: to ensure mutual access between computers in the LAN, you must reset the names of working groups and computers on all computers in the LAN. Press "Win + Pause" to open the "System Properties" window, select the "computer name" tab, click "change" in the lower right corner, and enter a new computer name and working group name, make sure that the computer names in the LAN are different, and set the same working group name. Finally, click "OK" continuously.

In this way, after you restart the system, open "Network Neighbor" and you will be able to see the names of other computers in the LAN.
2. Internet sharing

There are also many ways to achieve Internet sharing in the LAN, but most of them are implemented using software, such as WinGate and SyGate. In fact, in Windows XP, you can use the ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) Service to share the Internet with multiple computers on the LAN.

Step 1: select a computer in the LAN as the host and create an ADSL dial-up connection. Then, use the network cable to connect the Ethernet port of the ADSL Modem to the UpLink port of the switch, use a network cable to connect the NIC of the host to other ports of the vswitch.

Step 2: Open "network connection" in the host, right-click the created ADSL dial-up connection, and select "properties". In the displayed window, select the "advanced" tab, select "allow other network users to connect through the Internet connection of this computer" and click "OK. In this way, ICS is enabled on the host, and the IP address of the NIC is automatically set to 192.168.0.1.

Step 3: Except for this host, all the computers in the LAN are clients, which are connected by network cables and switches. If the client only shares the internet, no configuration is required. As long as the host dials the Internet, other computers can share the connection to surf the Internet.
