MySQL installation and use under Redhat

1. Installation

(1) See if the installation

        Yum List installed mysql*

(2) View existing installation packages

        Yum List mysql*

(3) Install MySQL server side

        Yum Install Mysql-dev

        Yum Install Mysql-server

(4) Installing the MySQL client (optional)

        Yum install MySQL

2. Configuration

(1) Set default character and engine

        Vim/etc/my.cnf

        Add under [mysqld]

        Default-character-set=utf8

        Default-storage-engine=innodb

3. Start and close

(1) Start and close

        /etc/init.d/mysqld start

        /etc/init.d/mysqld stop

(2) boot up

        /sbin/chkconfig Add mysqld

        /sbin/chkconfig mysqld on

4. Open Remote Connection

(1) You want MyUser to use MyPassword to connect to the MySQL server from any host:

GRANT all privileges on * * to ' myuser ' @ ' percent ' identified by ' MyPassword ' with GRANT OPTION;

FLUSH privileges;

5. Reference

 (1) Install MySQL using yum under Linux 

 (2) to set the MySQL boot auto-start method 

 (3) Error: 1130-host ... is not allowed 
 To connect to this MySQL server open MySQL remote connection does not use localhost
