Not long ago, the computer was installed with the Fedora 16 operating system, but the Chrome package downloaded from the official website could not be installed.
Error: lsb> = 4.0 is needed by google-chrome-stable-17.0.963.65-124586.i386
After several twists and turns, I learned that the RedHat-lsb package is missing.
Download a redhat-lsb-4.0-7.1.fc16.i686.rpm package online
# Rpm-ivh redhat-lsb-4.0-7.1.fc16.i686.rpm
The following error is returned:
Error: Failed dependencies:
/Usr/bin/ar is needed by redhat-lsb-4.0-7.1.fc16.i686
/Usr/bin/strip is needed by redhat-lsb-4.0-7.1.fc16.i686
Based on experience, I continued to search for the packages where ar and strip are located, but after searching for a few days, there was no result. Finally, I found on a foreign language website that it belongs to the core/binutils package.
Find the binutils-2.21.53.0.1-2.fc16.i686.rpm on the installation disc and install it successfully.
Back to # rpm-ivh redhat-lsb-4.0-7.1.fc16.i686.rpm
OK.
Install chrome again
# Rpm-ivh google-chrome-stable_current_i386.rpm
It went quite well.
