So I thought about it again and did a system load test. I 've always heard people say on the Internet that LINUX has a strong load ability and stable and robust operation. Today I can see it.

As a result, four movies are uploaded to the pcguest directory on the host. To be honest, the transfer speed is average, and there is a certain discrepancy with rumors.

Then we opened a batch of machines (I am an internet cafe network manager with few people at night, a large number of machines are idle, and the manager is not always on the go, the moon is dark, the night is high, the murder is set to heaven, just to do the case, haha ), each machine starts a movie with realplayer, storm, and storm. In this case, watching a movie on a single machine is counted (there are also two movies simultaneously on the 2B, few, not counted ), at that time, one server was under pressure from three hosts on the server.

When we opened about 15 servers, we checked the status with TOP. I am a newbie. I don't know much about it. I only look at the CPU status. It should be the utilization rate. It was around 10% at that time. If I press the Space key to Keep refreshing, occasionally there will be a large peak, the probability is very small, the average is about 10%, or less.

As a result, seven or eight servers were opened, and the load increased by less than 15%. The speed at which a machine opens a movie is almost zero. That is to say, when opening the first movie on the first machine, the response speed does not seem very fast. At least I do not feel faster than our movie server (WIN, but the speed of opening about 70th connections (the third movie on the last machine) seems to be similar to that of the first one, which is different from WIN. I use our ordinary PC, sai Yang 2.4, 1 GB memory, motherboard of Gigabyte 8ISMT, onboard Nic, our movie server uses the motherboard of a gigabyte workstation. The hardware performance is higher, but the overall performance is reversed, which is interesting.

If you forget it, the number of opened connections is equivalent to that of about 75 normal hosts, and the performance is acceptable. We have 300 machines in the internet cafe. When people are full, I have noticed that the maximum number of connections between the two movie servers is only 40. So I thought, it would be nice to run for one night and see how stable it is. If LINUX doesn't get down tomorrow (all the organic movies are played cyclically, you cannot enable loop playback. I have added enough videos to the playlist, which is enough until tomorrow morning ). So I went to bed.

I was a little excited, so I couldn't sleep, so I got depressed for a while. I don't know when it will take a long time to go to bed.

Wake up in the morning. It looks normal. It was less than 7 minutes to see the table!

We have more than 10 machines, some of which only have two movies and three. In the final calculation, it is equivalent to opening about 110 machines. It is difficult to look at LINUX again. I opened SSH and logged on to the host using software. The CPU usage under TOP is about 25%, which is not high, but the refresh status is not so fast. If you press the Space key and do not let it go, there will be a serious delay and no response at the time, after a while, the status will be refreshed continuously. It seems that it has reached the limit, and it is obviously slow to open a movie, but it is still very smooth during playback, there is no card situation. OK, then observe for a while. I knew that I added it to this level last night.

After running for another half an hour, there was no problem and the time was tight. Even if the test was completed, the results were satisfactory. I was convinced by the LINUX load capacity and stability. Some people say that royote, the routing software of Linux kernel, can drive 100 machines to access the Internet (the export speed is definitely not very high, at least 100 M, ^ _ ^ ), running for several consecutive weeks without any faults should be credible. Unfortunately, I have no conditions to try it. If the manager knows that I use an internet cafe host for load testing, he will definitely say that I am.

LINUX is really good. It is worth learning. Although it is difficult to learn, I also recognize it. Originally, it was compiled by a group of programmers for their own purposes, not for the public. First-class servers, and no streaming for desktops. Some LINUX versions multiply by 10, which can be used by common users.
