Oracle Data Type-1, oracle Data Type
In Oracle databases, each relational table consists of multiple columns. Assign a specific data type to each column to define the data type that will be stored in this column.
1. CHAR
A maximum of 2000 characters or bytes can be stored in a fixed length format. By default, it is specified to store data in the form of characters. This data type is of a fixed length. When the number of digits is insufficient, a space must be added to the right to fill the space.
2. VARCHAR and VARCHAR2
A maximum of B can be stored in a variable length. Therefore, no space is required to fill in. VARCHAR2 is more suitable for use than VARCHAR. Due to compatibility, VARCHAR remains in the Oracle database.
3. NCHAR
NLS (national language support, international language support) data types can only store Unicode character sets defined by the database NLS character set. This data type can be stored for up to 2000B. When the number of digits in a NCHAR column is insufficient, spaces must be filled on the right. For example:
4. NVARCHAR2
The data type of NLS is equivalent to that of VARCHAR2. This data type can be stored at most B. For example:
