Quick installation of GentooLinux

Prerequisites:

1. download Gentoo Live DVD 10.1 (Gentoo 10 anniversary)

2. x86 location: http://mirrors.sohu.com/gentoo/releases/x86/10.1/livedvd-x86-amd64-32ul-10.1.iso

3. x64 download location: http://mirrors.sohu.com/gentoo/releases/amd64/10.1/livedvd-amd64-multilib-10.1.iso

 

Installation steps:

1. split the magnetic zone

2. format the partition

3. mount the partition

4. copy the Live DVD Gentoo file

5. switch the environment to the hard disk

6. modify the root password

7. install grub to mbr

8. set, annotate, and disable services

9. copy the kernel to/boot

10. modify/etc/fstab

11. edit/boot/grub. conf.

12. reboot and exit the CD

13. complete Gentoo Live DVD installation

Mkdir/mnt/gentoo/boot

Mount/dev/sda1/mnt/gentoo/boot

 

Copy the Live DVD Gentoo file

 

Cp-KP/mnt/livecd/*/mnt/gentoo

 

Switch environment to hard disk

 

Chroot/mnt/gentoo/bin/bash

Env-update & source/etc/profile

 

Change root password

 

Passwd

New password :******

Retype new password :******

Passwd: password updated successfully

 

Install grub to mbr

 

Grub

Root (hd0, 0)

Setup (hd0)

Quit

 

Annotate all the items in/etc/conf. d/local. start, or use the following command to clear

 

Cat/dev/null>/etc/conf. d/local. start

Rc-update del autoconfig

 

Set time zone

 

Rm/etc/localtime

Ln-s/usr/share/zoneinfo/Asia/Taipei/etc/localtime

 

Modify/etc/fstab

 

/Dev/sda1/boot ext3 defaults 1 2

/Dev/sda2 none swap sw 0 0

/Dev/sda3/ext4 defaults 0 1

 

Copy kernel to/boot

 

Cp/usr/src/linux/System. map/boot/System. map-genkernel-x86-2.6.30-gentoo-r6

Cp/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage/boot/kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.30-gentoo-r6

Genkernel ramdisk

 

Edit/boot/grub. conf as follows:

Timeout 30

Title Gentoo Linux 2.6.30-r6
