SolidICE also includes a simple protocol (SPICE) for independent computing environments, which allows the client to talk to the server, and a management system called a virtual desktop controller.

Red Hat's virtualization product line also includes a built-in virtualized Red Hat Enterprise Linux based on Xen hypervisor.

Virtualization will become the top priority at the annual user conference of VMware, the industry leader, to be held in March September 15. This week, Microsoft has expanded its vision for virtualization desktops and added new features for its App-V technology, new license options are provided for users and service providers. In addition, HP has recently released its own virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI ).
