RedHat releases PaaS platform OpenShift

Red Hat announced on Wednesday (March June 27) that it will launch a series of Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions in the coming months, including Red Hat CloudForms and Red Hat OpenShift, helps enterprises build an open hybrid cloud computing environment.

Paul Cormier, president of Red Hat products and technology, said that we are confident that enterprises must embrace open hybrid cloud policies to integrate all existing resources, including physical, virtual, and public clouds, are integrated into the cloud infrastructure. Today, Red Hat has taken a big step forward, helping customers build and manage open hybrid clouds with these new technologies.

The new cloud solution is based on Red Hat's existing Linux operating system, virtualization management, and intermediary software. Like OpenShift Enterprise Paas, which includes Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization alization, enterprises can build distributed software underlying platforms that span data centers and cloud applications.

This also makes Red Hat the latest cloud Paas solution vendor. Previously, there were Microsoft Azure PaaS, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, Google App Engine, and Force.com of Saleforce.com. However, none of these solutions are open source products.

The cloud solution announced by Red Hat today also includes Hybrid Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS ), this solution includes Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization alization that assists enterprises in deploying and managing hybrid clouds, Red Hat CloudForm that provides autonomous services and system management, and Red Hat Enterprise Operating Systems. Other software, including Red Hat Cloud and virtualization management software, can help enterprises move their systems to the Cloud and the Cloud storage management software Red HatStorage.
