The system does not install the telnet service by default. If you want to install the telnet service, you can load the RedHat6.2 CD. My operation is to load the system CD on the VM. in linux, open the terminal, enter the super user, and then go to the media directory, after the disc is loaded, install the xinetd-2.3.14-33.el6.i686.rpm package rpm-ivhxinetd-2.3.14-33.el6 under the Packages folder in the disc under this directory.

Vm attach system CD
In linux, open the terminal, enter the super user, and then go to the media directory. After the CD is loaded, it will be in this directory.
Then install the xinetd-2.3.14-33.el6.i686.rpm package under the Packages folder in the CD
Rpm-ivh xinetd-2.3.14-33.el6.i686.rpm;
Also install the telnet service package telnet-server-0.17-47.el6.i686.rpm
Rpm-ivh telnet-server-0.17-47.el6.i686.rpm;
After installation, the configuration is complete.
1. Modify the file/etc/xinetd. d/telnet
Service telnet
{
Flags = REUSE
Socket_type = stream
Wait = no
User = root
Server =/usr/sbin/in. telnetd
Log_on_failure + = USERID
Disable = yes
}
Add "#" to the front of the disable = yes line, or change it to "disable = no ".
Restart the telnet service.
/Etc/init. d/xinetd restart
Configure Firewall
Vim/etc/sysconfig/iptables
Add the following line to allow port 23 connection
-A input-m state -- state NEW-m tcp-p tcp -- dport 23-j ACCEPT
Restart the Firewall Service
Service iptables restart
By default, the Super User cannot be used after the telnet connection. To use the Super User, you can modify the configuration file.
Vim/etc/pam. d/login
Comment out a line similar to the following
Auth required pam_securetty.so
Garbled text is a headache. In my linux system, UTF-8 is used, while the window terminal is not UTF-8 encoded, so Garbled text occurs.
You can use SecureCRT to connect and then set session encoding.
Then we can see that the Chinese is displayed normally.
