My system is redhat Enterprise5.5 64-bit and its own Python2.4 cannot be detached (the internal dependency is serious, and the uninstall system will crash ).
The software I need to install requires support for python2.6 and wxPython2.8.
I upgraded to Python2.6 by compiling the source code. Entering "pyhon" on the terminal shows the following:
[Xx @ localhost ~] $ Python
Python 2.6.8 (unknown, May 24 2012, 11:11:34)

The problem is that I want to install wxPython2.8 using "rpm-ivh XXX. rpm" or "yum install XXX" without source code.
Yum is based on python2.4. "yum install XXX" installs wxPython2.8 to python2.4.
Similarly, rpm-ivh XXX. rpm is installed in python2.4 by default.
1: How can I install wxPython2.8 in python2.6 of the system. Instead of python2.4.
