Method 2

We can use the following method to restrict some users from sending and receiving Internet mails.

I. restrict users from receiving Internet mails

Exchange 2007, use the following steps:

In Exchange 2007, there are several ways to restrict users from receiving Internet mail. The following lists the most commonly used methods.

1. Start the Exchange console.

2. In the console tree, expand "recipient configuration ".

3. In the result pane, find the user you want to restrict. Right-click it and select "properties ".

4. In "<recipient> Properties", click the "Mail Flow Settings" tab.

5. Select "mail delivery restrictions" from the mail flow settings list, and click "properties ".

6. When the "require all senders to pass identity verification" check box is selected in "mail delivery restrictions,

After this option is selected, all external emails will be rejected.

7. Click OK to return to the Mail Flow settings tab.

8. Click OK ".

Exchange 2003, use the following steps:

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers

2. Find the user you want to restrict, right-click it, and select "attribute ".

3. Under the "Exchange General" tab, click "Delivery Restrictions.

4. Then select "require all senders to pass authentication" ("require that all senders are authenticated ")

Ii. restrict users from sending Internet mails

Exchange 2007, use the following steps:

You can create a Transport rule to restrict certain users from sending emails to the Internet. The procedure is as follows:

1. Open the Exchange console on the hub transport server.

2. In the console tree, click organization configuration, and then click hub transport ".

3. In the result pane, click the Transport Rules tab, and then in the actions pane, click New transport rules ...".

4. In the "name" field, enter the disclaimer name.

5. Keep the "enabled" check box in the selected status.

6. In the "Step 1. Select conditions" box, configure the conditions as follows:

Condition 1: From a member of the distribution list (select the group containing the Restricted User)

Condition 2: Send to users inside or outside the Organization (select Outside)

7. click Next.

8. In the Step 1. Select Action (s) box, select all the actions that you want to be applied to this rule. For example, you can configure it:

9. In the Step 2. Edit the rule description (click an underlined value) box, click each blue underlined word.

10. Click Next to configure Exception

11. Follow the process to complete the wizard and then test if works

Exchange 2003, use the following steps:

1. Create an SMTP Connector to allow all emails sent to the Internet to use this SMTP Connector

2. Open the SMTP Connector attribute, and under the "Delivery Restrictions" tab, add the user you want to restrict to the blocked list.

3. Check the following KB article to make sure Restrictions take effect.
