Many friends in the installation of their own printer driver will be prompted "Can not install this hardware, RPC server is not available" situation, then what is PRC, why will the RPC server is not available? Small series collection and collation as follows:
When you perform any of the following server-based tasks, you may receive an "RPC server is unavailable (RPC servers unavailable)" error message:

• Connect to a trusted domain
• User authentication
Note: an "RPC server is unavailable" error may also occur when running Dcpromo on a member server. This problem occurs if there is only one DC, and file and printer sharing is not enabled on the network card of the DC.
Reason
This problem can occur for any of the following reasons:
• RPC service may not be started.
• DNS or NetBIOS names cannot be resolved.
• Unable to establish RPC channel.
Solution
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type the following command line in the Open box, and then click OK: Net start RPCSS to test to see if this solves the problem. If this problem still occurs, proceed to the next step.
2. Click Start, point to the program, point to the attachment, and then click the command Prompt.
3. At the command prompt, type ping servername, where servername is the server, NetBIOS, DNS, or GUID name for which you want to test the connection. If one of the computers has a connection problem, contact your network administrator to resolve the problem. If this problem still occurs, proceed to the next step.
4. Use the Netdiag tool included with the Microsoft Windows Support tool (included on the Windows CD-ROM) to determine if the domain controller is working correctly. You can perform network tracing using the MSRPC, DNS, NBT, LDAP, or TCP protocols. If there is a problem with the domain controller, contact your network administrator to resolve the problem. If this problem still occurs, proceed to the next step.
5. Use the Netdom tool contained in the Windows support tool to verify the network trust relationship and then reset or establish a connection to the server.
Also run services.msc, check out RPC remote Procedure call (RPC) and remote
Procedure Call (RPC) Locator These two services, setting them to start automatically. If not, look at the DCOM Server Process Launcher is this service already running? If not, starting the DCOM service can be resolved.
