Sharing conflicts due to duplicate names

You may often encounter this strange phenomenon in the LAN, that is, when you open the "Network Neighbor" window, you find that a shared directory on the server can be opened but sometimes not, what is the cause of this phenomenon? How can this problem be solved? In fact, in addition to setting the shared directory, the computer name of the server may be the same as that of other workstations in the LAN, which may cause conflicts between shared resources on the server. To eliminate this phenomenon, you may first close all workstations except servers in the LAN, and then open each computer one by one for shared access testing, once you find that a computer is opened and the shared directory of the server cannot be accessed, it can be determined that the name of the computer must be the same as that of the server. At this time, you can go to the system desktop of the computer, right-click the "my computer" icon, right-click the "properties" command from the pop-up menu, and click the "computer name" tab in the property settings window that appears, on the tab page shown in 1, modify the computer name to make sure that the name of the new computer is not the same as that of any computer in the LAN, in this way, the shared directory in the LAN may conflict with the computer name.

Of course, if the operating system of the LAN server is installed with Windows 2003 Server, check whether ISA is installed on the server. If so, click "start"/"run" command in sequence. In the displayed system running dialog box, enter the string command "services. MSC, click OK to open the service list interface of the server system. Double-click the "Computer brows" service item in the interface, in the Service Properties interface that appears next, set "Start type" to "Disable", and click "OK". This may prevent the shared directory on the server from being accessible for a while and inaccessible for a while.

Shared denial caused by closed guest

If the operating system installed on the local computer is Windows 98, and the computer that you are trying to access the shared directory is Windows 2000, when you access the shared directory on the Windows 2000 computer, the shared directory cannot be opened. In fact, this phenomenon is mainly caused by disabling the Guest account by default in Windows 2000. To avoid this phenomenon, you can re-enable the Guest account in Windows 2000:

First, on the Windows 2000 system desktop, click "start"/"run" command. In the displayed system running dialog box, enter the string command "gpedit. MSC, click OK to open the Group Policy editing window;

In this window, double-click "Local Computer Policy", "Computer Configuration", "Windows Settings", "Security Settings", "Local Policy", and "User Privilege assignment" projects with the mouse, in the subwindow on the right of the corresponding "User power assignment" project, double-click the "Deny access to this computer from network" option. In the interface shown in figure 2, check whether the Guest account exists. If yes, you just need to delete it and click OK!
