After the sis650 dedicated video card driver is installed, it can easily reach 1024X768 (24 bits ), if you have any problems with the installation process, you can use the redhat-config-xfree86 command (RH7.3 and earlier with the xconfigurator command) to restore the Default Driver of the graphics card at any time.
1. Unzip the driver sis_dri.so_4.2.1.tar.gzand sis_drv.o_4.2.20.gcc2_180403-1.tar.gz downloaded from the http://www.winischhofer.net and generate sis_dri.so (optional) and sis_drv.o.
2. Copy sis_drv.o to the/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers directory (case sensitive) to overwrite files of the same name. Copy sis_dri.so to the/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri directory to overwrite files of the same name.
3. Enter setup to start X-windows, configure other sis devices (such as sis integrated sound card), and exit (do not use startx to start X ).
4, cd/etc/X11, edit the XF86Config file (RH7.3 and earlier versions of the XF86Config-4 file), vi XF86Config, the file content is modified as follows:

Run the ESC key to enter the command mode. Enter the wq command to save the disk and exit.
5. Run the startx command to start X.
Note that after the old one is overwritten with the new sis driver, you can start X first, then directly modify the redhat menu-"system settings"-"display"-"advanced"-video card type "configuration... "-the" driver "value is" sis ", which can avoid directly modifying the complex XF86Config file content.

The above process has been tested on rh80, and I think it's okay on rh90. The custom installation of the sis video card is also universal.
