With the development of the windows operating system, the functions are getting stronger and simpler, but the startup speed of the system is getting slower and slower. Taking the most popular Windows XP as a compliment, many friends try various ways to reduce the startup time and use various optimization techniques or software to accelerate the startup process. Today, I will talk about some practical skills in combination with my long-term experience to help you quickly start windows XP.
1. disable idle IDE Channels
Acceleration principle: the Windows XP system automatically detects the IDE devices on the computer during startup. Therefore, the idle IDE channel detection is disabled to accelerate the system startup. However, you need to correct the following mistakes: Many people think that you can simply disable idle IDE channels in the BIOS, it is recommended that you disable both the BIOS and the system. First, the first method is ineffective because the XP operating system can bypass the BIOS of the motherboard to independently monitor the various states of the computer hardware, and the other method is redundant. Therefore, you can disable idle IDE channels only in Windows XP.
[Practice]: Right-click "my computer-properties", click "hardware", and then click "Device Manager ", open the "ide ata/PATA controller" (slightly different chips), enter the Primary and Secondary IDE channels, and select "Advanced Settings ", here, find the item "Current transfer mode" is "not applicable" (this is the corresponding to the idle IDE channel) and set the "device type" of this item to "NONE ", OK.
2. manually set the IP address
Acceleration principle: Windows XP is developed on the basis of Windows 2000. Therefore, it supports a wide range of network functions. In this case, Windows XP automatically checks whether the computer is connected to the LAN after it is started up. However, generally, users access the Internet from a single computer, and basically set the IP address to be automatically obtained during network connection. In this case, the system will search for the DHCP server to assign an IP address to the machine, but the general user will not configure it. This causes the system to take a long time to search for the DHCP server until the IP address is obtained or the service times out. During this period, even if you come to the desktop, the double-click program does not reflect it. This is also reflected by many users who use Windows XP. after entering the desktop, the system crashes for more than 10 seconds! In fact, you only need to manually assign an IP address for the "local connection" to solve this problem, avoiding automatic network detection for every boot of Windows XP, thus accelerating startup!
[Practice]: Right-click "Network Neighbor" and choose properties. In the window, right-click "Local Connection" and choose Properties. Here, double-click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP )", select "Use the following IP Address" and enter an IP address (for example, 192.168.0.1). The subnet mask is default. (This will not cause any conflict with your Internet connection, and this address is only used in the LAN) so that the system will search again and quickly find the IP address and quickly enter the system.
3. Disable devices that are not currently in use
Acceleration principle: at present, computer peripheral devices are much cheaper. Many people have bought U disks, mobile hard disks, and other products, however, many friends forget to disconnect these USB devices from the host after they are used. Because Windows XP system will automatically detect the USB interface, therefore, if these devices are connected to the host at startup, the system will start slowly. I have personally experienced that my friend's computer cannot access the system after it is connected to the mobile hard drive, and only the connection line can be disconnected. Therefore, after using USB flash drives and mobile hard drives, you can immediately disconnect from the host, at the same time, it also prevents unexpected damage to the device, such as power-on current impact (because many chassis manufacturers do not have the necessary protection circuit on the front USB interface to reduce costs, or even do not need to be grounded ). In addition, if you are not using infrared or wireless network card devices, you should also disable it in the Device Manager. These extended devices, especially NICs, have a huge impact on the system startup speed. If this feature is disabled, the System Startup Check is skipped.
In addition, note: because the system will automatically read the optical drive by default, the optical drive will be detected at startup. If the optical drive is placed in the optical drive, it will automatically read, if it is a multimedia disc, the reading time will be longer, and the startup time of the computer will be extended. Therefore, we recommend that you use the CD and retrieve it in time.
4. Disable topic desktop Removal
Many friends like beautiful theme or wallpaper, but the beauty is costly, that is, it consumes a lot of memory, and there are too many icons on the desktop. Each time the system starts to display the desktop, it first needs to check whether the topic is enabled. Once discovered, the topic is loaded, A lot of theme eat a lot of memory (many other users do not make perfect subjects, and many compatibility problems will occur after use ). At the same time, the system will also find and verify the effectiveness of the desktop shortcut, so the more shortcuts, the longer the verification time. We recommend that you do not use theme whenever possible. You can set a beautiful wallpaper at most. Then, the Desktop shortcuts are arranged in dedicated folders to facilitate management, and the acceleration starts in one fell swoop!
5. Close unnecessary startup programs
Many software will automatically run some background programs after the system starts, such as Winamp and office.
These programs will make the startup slow. You should press "start-Run" and enter "msconfig" and press ENTER-"start" to close unnecessary startup items here. You only need to retain the input method and firewall (based on your personal settings ).
In addition, we recommend that you do not set the memory optimization software to boot. Because not only does the boot memory not only have a very small effect, but it also seriously affects the startup speed. The correct method should be to rename the memory after running PhotoShop and other software that requires a large amount of memory. (In fact, the memory management of the operating system has been quite complete since Win2000, and winXP is now more scientific and effective in memory management, and the effect of memory management is Limited)
6. Anti-virus software is also troublesome
Some anti-virus software provides the system startup scanning function, which will take a lot of time. In fact, if you have enabled the real-time monitoring function of anti-virus software and regularly checks the system for viruses, scanning the system at startup seems redundant. disable this function!
