Skype for Business Walkthrough Five: Preparing the domain environment

Skype for Business Server 2015 needs to be tightly combined with domain Services, so you need to prepare the domain environment before you install Skype for Business Server 2015. The preparation process is done only through the Skype for Business Server 2015 wizard.

1. Open the Skype for Business Server 2015 Deployment Wizard and click Prepare Active Directory.

2. Step one: Prepare the schema, click Run , then click Next in the Popup Wizard, and finally click Finish .

3. Step two, verify the replication of the schema partition

A. Login domain controller

B. Open ADSI Edit

C. On the action button, click Connect to

D. On the Connection Settings Dialog dialog box, select Schema, and then click OK on the Select a well known naming Context.

E. Search for cn=ms-rtc-sip-schemaversion in the schema container, and if present, double-click in the properties to view Rangeupper as 1150,rangelower is 3. Indicates a successful update and replication of the schema.

4. Step 3, prepare the current forest.

A. Click Run

B. Click Next in the Pop-up window.

C. Select the local domain in the universal group location and click Next.

D. At the end, click Finish.

E. Open the Skype for Business Server Management Shell, and then typing get-csadforest, press ENTER. If Lc_forestsettings_state_ready appears in the results, the readiness forest has been successfully executed.

5. Step four, confirm the replication of the global catalog.

A. On the domain controller, open active Directory Users and Computers

B. Expand, and then in the Users container, find out if there is a universal group csadministrator, if present, indicates that it has succeeded.

6. Step five, prepare the current domain, click Run, and then click Finish.

7. Step six, verify replication in the domain.

A. Open the Skype for Business Server Management Shell.

B. Use Get-csaddomain to verify the domain replication status.

Get-csaddomain [-domain <fqdn>] [-domaincontroller <fqdn>] [-globalcatalog <fqdn>] [- Globalsettingsdomaincontroller <fqdn>]

For example, if your domain name is a CONTOSO.COM,DC domain controller with a DC, you can do this by typing the following command

Get-csaddomain-domain Contoso.com-globalsettingsdomaincontroller dc.contoso.com

If the result is Lc_domainsettings_state_ready, the copy is successful.

8. Step seven, add the user to provide it with administrative rights to the Skype for Business Server Control Panel.

Open Active Directory Users and Computers, locate Csadministrator, and then add the administrator to the member.
