I am using openSuSE, and the default pdf connector for KDE desktop is Okular. I found a garbled text after opening the Chinese document. Previously, the evince in the GNOME desktop environment had the same problem.

We found on the Internet that the pdf functions of okular, epdfview, and evince are provided by the branch poppler of xpdf, and the poppler reads the font from the fontconfig configuration file to replace the font in the pdf. (Reference: http://www.2cto.com/ OS /201202/121372.html) poppler can be considered as a background tool to provide font management support for pdf reading tools.

Knowing the problem is easy to solve:

Sudo zypper install poppler-data
