Kickstarter, a crowdfunding website platform, has a new project named "spsiri", which is raising funds to create a programming drone. Spsiri is a multi-functional drone equipped with air sensors, cameras, wireless networks, cloud computing support, and more Linux devices can be customized through open tools.
Founder Patrick Edwards-Daugherty said spsiri can do many things, such as express delivery, rescue, Cave exploration, and plotting. It can also be used as playmates, gardeners, inspectors, reporters, and teammates, or just loose ...... Everything works.
Spsiri drones run Ubuntu Linux's ROS (robot operating system) with a 1 GHz processor, 4 GB memory, and three-axis accelerometer. Each rotor of spsiri is surrounded by a carbon fiber reinforced bumper to prevent accidents.
Currently, spsiri has raised $57 thousand, and Patrick Edwards has set the goal to raise $0.125 million.
