Stable does not stable-Debian information of the Linux release version. The following is a detailed description. Debian's stable philosophy is that in most cases, functions are not upgraded, but only for the purpose of simply removing bugs. The problem is that the upstream step and Debian are inconsistent. After a bug is detected in the upstream database, it can only be solved in the new version. Or, the bug of the old version is accidentally eliminated when the new version adds new features. In this case, DD is required to patch the old version. If DD is very busy, or because the difference between the upstream version and the old version is too big, it is very difficult to patch the old version, then the bug can only be left there. In some cases, the bug has been resolved in unstable/testing, but there is no static content in stable. You can only wait for the next version of stable to be released.
In this case, it is advantageous for gentoo and Arch to follow the new philosophy.
In Debian, in addition to discarding the stable to get testing/unstable, you can also consider backports or compile and install it yourself if the backports do not exist. If you compile your own files, the backports are unofficial. (But now the search for http://packages.debian.org contains the results of backports, it seems that backports is becoming more and more unofficial .)
