Author: Angel wings
Step 1: Download Ubuntu10.10
:
I downloaded:
Ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso
Step 2: Download grub4dos
:
I downloaded:
Grub4dos-0.4.4.zip
Step 3: Set the startup item
1. decompress grub4dos and copy the grldr, grldr.mbr, and grub.exe files in the directory to the C root directory.
Note: After I copy the file, the system prompts that the file has been located in grldr. although I have not searched the file, it does not matter. if the file already exists, you can not copy it.
2. decompress ubuntu10.10 and copy the vmlinuz and initrd. lz files under the casper directory to the C root directory.
3. create the menu. lst file in the C root directory. the content is:
Title Install Ubuntu
Root (hd0, 0)
Kernel (hd0, 0)/vmlinuz boot = casper iso-scan/filename =/ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso ro quiet splash locale = zh_CN.UTF-8
Initrd (hd0, 0)/initrd. lz
4. create a new file named boot. ini in the C root directory. The content is as follows:
[Boot loader]
[Operating systems]
C: grldr. mbr = "ubuntu"
5. copy the ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso to the C root directory
Note: the name of the Ubuntu file you downloaded must be the same as that of the file in step 3.
Step 4: install Ubuntu10.10 on the hard disk
Restart your computer and press enter to go to the Ubuntu10.10 installation page.
Open the terminal and enter the following command:
Sudo umount-l/isodevice
This command unmounts the drive where the disc is located. otherwise, no partition is found on the partition page.
Double-click to install Ubuntu and install it as prompted.
Bytes ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: Kernel, vmlinuz, initrd. lz, menu. lst, and boot. ini files are deleted. then win7 can be started normally without any settings.
Note: Ubuntu 10.10 is installed on the hard drive in win7. if you are an XP user, do not follow this method.
