Tested: Ubuntu10.04 consumes more power than Windows7

Ubuntu10.04 lost to Windows 7 in the Game Performance competition. Unfortunately, the latest test shows that it is also underperforming in terms of power consumption optimization. This test uses Asus EeePC1201N netbook and Lenovo ThinkPadT61 notebook respectively. The former is equipped with a 12.1-inch WXGA screen, Atom330 processor, GeForce9400MION graphics card, 2 GB video memory, and 15.4 gb5400rpm hard drive.

This test uses the Asus Eee PC 1201N netbook and Lenovo ThinkPad T61 notebook respectively. The former is equipped with a 12.1-inch WXGA screen, Atom 330 processor, GeForce 9400 m ion video card, 2 GB video memory, and 250 GB 5400RPM hard drive, the latter is equipped with a 15.4-inch screen, Core 2 Duo T9300 processor, Quadro NVS 140M graphics card, 4 GB memory, 100 GB 7200RPM Hitachi hard drive.

During the test, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS x86_64 and Windows 7 Professional x64 are installed in two versions respectively. The drivers are 197.16 Windows and 195.36.15 Linux.
