The driver of LinuxATI is really confusing-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. The following is a detailed description. My video card is ATI x1700 and there was no direct rendering before. But compiz is okay, and it's okay to watch movies.

But somehow, after I reinstall Ubuntu8.04, the restricted driver is also enabled (this time I saw that xorg-driver-fglrx is installed. 1.0-8-3 + 2.6.24.12-16.34), but the following result is indeed returned by running glxinfo:

$ Glxinfo | grep render
Direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon X1700

Therefore, some games that were previously unavailable can also be used, and google earth can also be used, but the effect is not good. The glasses are sore.

In addition, the default configuration of mplayer does not allow you to watch a movie. Fortunately, after selecting-vo x11, it will be normal again.
