Article title: Linux kernel enters 3.0RC1Linus and says it just changes the number. Linux is a technology channel of the IT lab in China. Including desktop applications, Linux system management, kernel research, embedded systems and open source, and some other basic categories. Linus Torvalds has released the first Linux kernel for nearly 20 years. after 39 Main 2.6 kernel versions, the father of Linux has just passed the release of Linux 3.0. Linux kernel 3.0 is currently in the RC1 stage.
Torvalds released the 3.0 RC1 download package of the 93MB Linux kernel to the kernel.org email list at around six o'clock P.M. local time.
Although the major changes to the version number seem very exciting, but on the Git checkout code annotation Http://git.kernel.org /? P = linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git; a = tag; h = refs/tags/v3.0-rc1>, Linus indicates that version 3.0 is just a numerical change. In the subsequent official statement, Torvalds said that except for the frequently used six-in-one driver update and some patch fixes, version 3.0 is nothing special and will not change ABI or API, no exciting new features will be added.
Possible improvements in 3.0 include the addition of Cleancache support for EXT4 and Btrfs file systems, the addition of Microsoft Kinect Linux driver support, and various open source graphics driver improvements.
