The origins of Beijing's 4th 9 cities

The old Beijing city is divided by city walls and can be divided into four layers: outer city, inner city, HuangCheng, and zijincheng. The so-called "four or nine cities" refer to the four doors of the Imperial City and the nine doors of the inner city.
