As we mentioned earlier, when we use the latest IE11 browser, the phone number in the Web page will appear as a link, and when clicked, the application to call will open. How do I set which application to use to call when I click these phone numbers?
Clicking a call is a new feature within IE11. If you want to dial with a specific application after you click the phone number, you can select the application in the default program. The selections you make apply only to your user account and do not affect other user accounts on your PC.
To set the procedure for clicking the call default call program:
Slide into the right edge of the screen, click Search (You can also point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search), enter the default program in the Search box, click or click the application, and then click the default program to open the default program.
Click or click to set your default program.
Under Programs, click the program you want to use.
Click or click to set this program to its default value, and then click OK.
If you want to select the file types and protocols that a program uses by default, click to select the default value for this program.
