According to people familiar with the matter, Microsoft may release the final version of Internet Explorer 9 at the Tech. Ed Technology Conference in Bangalore, India on April 9.

In the last two years, the share of Microsoft IE products in the global market has declined sharply. According to the StatCounter report, in last September, the global market share of Microsoft IE fell below 50% for the first time, at 49.87%, this slide trend shows no improvement. In this context, the emergence of IE9 is regarded as Microsoft's last lifeline in the browser market. The good news is that IE9 RC has downloaded 11 million times, and IE9 BETA has downloaded 25 million times, IE9 has increased Microsoft's market share by less than one percentage point in the browser market.

Market share fell below 5 to become Internet Public Enemy in China due to three major issues of IE6

In the Chinese market, the installation rate of Internet Explorer is still ranked first by operating system bundling. However, according to iResearch's data, although Internet Explorer is installed on a large number of users' computers, however, it is using other browsers to access the Internet. As a result, the actual use time of IE has fallen below 50% and has lost its dominant position. This number is still declining.

For IE9, the first task in China is probably not to compete with Firefox, sogou, and roaming, but to fight with each other. According to some news, Microsoft once proposed a ambitious goal of "Reducing the market share of its browser IE6 to zero" to free up market space for its latest browser version.

However, by the end of last year, 45.2% of Internet users in China are still using the Internet Explorer 6 browser, which is 5 times higher than other countries. This is because of the complexity of the Chinese market and the slow upgrading of Chinese users' computer operating systems due to severe piracy problems.

The biggest mission of IE9 in the Chinese market is to "eliminate" IE6, which is essentially a series of problems Microsoft is eager to solve. For a long time, the leading issue of IE6 is its slow speed, second, its highly closed system has led to a serious standardization problem. As a result, thousands of websites cannot be identified by Internet Explorer 6. Internet users often find that many web pages cannot be viewed. At the same time, the frequent outbreak of security vulnerabilities in IE6 has led to heavy losses to users and websites. Because of the above problems, in foreign countries, network practitioners have set up the "anti-IE6 alliance", and Feng dahui, head of the technical team of the Chinese Medical pharmacy Life Science website clove garden, internet Explorer 6 is one of the four major enemies of Internet entrepreneurs in China. A year ago, Microsoft held a special funeral for IE 6, but the funeral did not accelerate the process of IE6's disappearance, microsoft launched a new website ie6countdown.com today, urging users to get out of IE6's tragic ecosystem as soon as possible. It has been 10 years since the release of IE6, and 10 years has been enough to change the Internet ecosystem, but it has not changed the status quo of IE6's continued strength. So far, IE6 still has a 12% market share, microsoft hopes to reduce it to 1% in the near future.

After IE6, Microsoft successively published disastrous products IE7 and IE8. These two browsers not only did not significantly improve compatibility, but slowed down the speed of browsing the Web page.

In the face of the complex environment in the Chinese market, Microsoft wants to use IE9 to solve the three major problems of speed, standards and security. Although IE9 is well received in technology, it is still very difficult for Microsoft to truly recover the decline, the solution sent by Microsoft is "dual-core ".
