Another tool, called CheckInstall, automatically generates rpm by recording what file directories were created and copied during the make install process. (In the past, a tool named installwatch was included in the CheckInstall software package ). This greatly simplifies the rpm production process. A software only has the source code and makefile, and can also directly create rpm without writing spec. Of course, this tool can only generate simple rpm and cannot detect dependencies and run pre/post scripts. However, in most cases, this is enough.
