Ubuntu 14.04 has many improvements and new features:

By default, the kernel 3.13.9 is used. Click the starter icon to minimize the window and choose a partial comprehensive menu (this function is also used for GNOME 3.12). The improved dialog box is closed. A new function allows users to increase the volume by up to 200%, rewrite the title window filtering support of Unity 7. The Unity control center is replaced by the gnome control center, with a new default wallpaper and 11 other beautiful wallpapers (generated by Community voting ). The logon screen and screen lock are identical.

Several different versions are also released: Ubuntu GNOME, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Edubuntu, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Cloud, and Ubuntu Studio.
