According to the latest weekly briefing by the Ubuntu Kernel team, the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system will receive new Kernel packages on April 9, March 15, and Upgrade Linux Kernel 4.4.5 based on the latest long-term support Kernel version. Users who have run Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) can confirm the latest kernel version in the software library, which means that early adaptors can now install and upgrade to the latest kernel version.

In his weekly briefing, Joseph Salisbury of Canonical wrote: "Our Xenial kernel has been re-built based on v4.4.5 and has been tested in archived-proposed, such as linux-4.4.0-14.30. This will be promoted to-updates in the near future. Please participate in the test and let us know the results ."
