Ubuntu8.04 use the XP font to beautify Chinese Characters in Locale

Before configuring the Chinese language, you must first install the Chinese language support: Open the "language support" dialog box (see the picture on the right ). Click "System -- & gt; System Management -- & gt; languagesupport" in the main menu )". In the "Supported languages" list, find "Chinese" and tick it on the right side. Change the default language to "Chinese" and check Enabl Before configuring the Chinese language, you must first install the Chinese language support:

• Open the "language support" dialog box (see the picture on the right ). Choose System> System Management> language support from the main menu )".
• In the "Supported languages" list, find "Chinese" and tick it on the right side. Change the default language to "Chinese", select Enable support to enter complex characters, and click OK.
  Ubuntu will download and install the Language Pack. After the installation is complete, log out and log on again. The interface becomes Chinese.
• If you do not want to change the interface to Chinese, just add support for Chinese, do not change the default language.

After restarting, You can beautify the Chinese fonts of UBUNTU. Because I installed XP + UBUNTU dual-system. In this way, I plan to directly use the font under XP.

            First, find simsun. ttc under C: \ WINDOWS \ Fonts \.   Tahoma. ttf     Tahomabd. ttf   These three fonts.

sudo mkdir -p /usr/share/fonts/zh_CN/TrueType/ sudo cp /media/hda1/windows/fonts/simsun.ttc /usr/share/fonts/zh_CN/TrueType/ sudo cp /media/hda1/windows/fonts/tahoma.ttf /usr/share/fonts/zh_CN/TrueType/ sudo cp /media/hda1/windows/fonts/tahomabd.ttf /usr/share/fonts/zh_CN/TrueType/ sudo chmod 644 /usr/share/fonts/zh_CN/TrueType/* cd /usr/share/fonts/zh_CN/TrueType/ sudo mkfontscale sudo mkfontdir

The commands in the blue section above should be adjusted based on the actual partition location of your WINDOWS system.
 
Then update the font list:
 

sudo fc-cache /usr/share/fonts/zh_CN/TrueType/

By replacing/etc/fonts/language-selector.conf to configure the font, only after this configuration can achieve the beautification effect, do not change/etc/fonts. conf. But it should be noted that Ubuntu 8.04 does not have the language-selector.conf file./Etc/fonts/conf. d/69-language-selector-zh-cn.conf and/etc/fonts/conf. d/99-language-selector-zh.conf should be modified

If no two files exist under/etc/fonts/conf. d/, you can establish a connection.

sudo ln -s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/69-language-selector-zh-cn.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d/ sudo ln -s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/99-language-selector-zh.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d/

Finally, replace all the content in the two files with the following:

You can use the font you Just configured in the font options.

Restart X Window.
