UbuntuServer: from the terminal to the interface

I always think that javastuserver is a little unsatisfactory. Compared with RHEL5, I don't even have a graphical interface. I installed it myself. It's quite depressing because the wireless network cannot be identified in Terminal Mode (this is understandable, no server still uses wireless networks). I can only plug in the cables. The following shows the process from the terminal console to the graphical interface. 1. to connect to the network, make sure that the network is smooth. If you use Wireless just like me, find the root network cable first. 2. Install xinit: sudoa.

I always felt that Ubuntu Server was a little unsatisfactory. Compared with RHEL5, I didn't even have a graphical interface, but I installed it myself. It was quite depressing, as the wireless network cannot be identified in Terminal Mode (this is understandable, no server still uses a wireless network), I can only plug in the Wired Network. below is the process from the terminal console to the graphical interface.

1. to connect to the network, make sure that the network is smooth. If you use Wireless like me, find the root network cable first.

2. install xinit: sudo apt-get install xinit. If you restart xinit at this time, you will be able to access a graphical interface, but there is nothing except the mouse pointer.

3. Install the environment manager. If you like GNOME, use

Sudo apt-get install TPD

Instead of changing KDE and Xface users to KDM and XDM

4. Install the desktop environment

Sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop or kubuntu-desktop xubuntu-desktop

If you only want to install the core environment of the interface or compare the network speed, you can

Sudo apt-get install gnome-core or kde-core xface4

5. If you have installed CORE, you still need to do the following work:

1. Install the New Software Package Manager

Sudo apt-get install gsynaptic

2. Install the wireless Internet access module (if needed)

Sudo apt-get install network-manager *

3. Install Chinese support (display Chinese)

Sudo apt-get install language-support-zh

4. Select Chinese Input Method support and Chinese interface support from the new software package manager.

5. Use the new software package manager to install other software you want.
