Ubuntu Touch is a Canonical system dedicated to smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. It has recently been running on Lenovo ThinkPad 8 tablet on Windows x86.

The development of Ubuntu Touch has not been smooth for several years. Currently, only two devices support the system, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, respectively. However, Canonical seems to have decided to extend it to more platforms, such as Lenovo ThinkPad 8 tablet on Windows x86. ThinkPad 8 is equipped with the intel Bay Trail platform's Atom Z3770 processor and preloads Windows 8.1. However, it has recently proved that it can easily and successfully install Ubuntu Touch, although it is not yet known for details, however, it may be determined that the Canonical developer seems to be considering further support for such devices.

Ubuntu Touch is already running on a variety of different devices, most of which are smartphones, especially Google's Nexus 5, and some other phones also include Samsung's Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5. Kevin Gunn, a Canonical developer, said on Google + that Simon Raffeiner, a Community developer, has transplanted the Unity 8 desktop environment to Intel's Bay Trail platform. During the development process in the past year, the number of devices supporting Ubuntu Touch has been declining, but this does not rule out that developers are waiting for the next version of the operating system to be more stable. Unfortunately, the development progress of Ubuntu Touch is still a mystery. In September 2014, Canonical released the first RTM version of Ubuntu Touch. Mir was upgraded to 0.7.1 to support Unity 8. It is said that it is already a very stable and usable version. Over the past six months, the open-source system has no more information about related products except for its simple and smooth operation interface. The final official version of Ubuntu Touch is expected to be released in the second quarter of 2015. Later, devices running Ubuntu Touch will be officially sold in the store.
