Underlying network settings-the ip command ip has the same function as the previous ifconfig and route commands: ip link showip route listip link set eth0 downip addr del dev eth0 local 192.168.0.3ip addr add dev eth0 local 192.168.0.111/24 broadcast multicast link set eth0 upip route add dev eth0 to 10.0.0.0/8 src 192.168.0.111 run 192.168.0.1 with the help parameter, the syntax that allows the ip to print out commands. For example, the ip link help command outputs: Usage: ip link set DEVICE {up | down | arp {on | off} | dynamic {on | off} | multicast {on | off} | txqueuelen PACKETS | name NEWNAME | address LLADDR | broadcast LLADDR | mtu MTU} ip link show [DEVICE]
