In Linux, dd and gzip commands can be used to replace Ghost for Disk Mirroring. However, the disadvantage is that the speed is not satisfactory. According to actual tests, 16 GB (actually 4 GB) may take 1 hour.
To use dd AND gzip backup, run the following command:
# Dd if =/dev/hda1 | gzip> bw.office.sled.10.hda1.dd.gz
During restoration, you can run the following commands:
# Gzip-dc bw.office.sled.10.hda1.dd.gz | dd of =/dev/hda1
It is worth noting that Linux boot systems such as Live CD must be used for restoration.
Note: It is much faster to use squashfs. In my use, the speed is generally twice that of dd + gzip. It seems that the only benefit of dd/gzip is the built-in linux.
