Use dd AND gzip to replace Ghost for Disk Mirroring-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. The following is a detailed description. In Linux, dd and gzip commands can be used to replace Ghost for Disk Mirroring. However, the disadvantage is that the speed is not satisfactory. According to actual tests, 16 GB (actually 4 GB) may take 1 hour.

To use dd AND gzip backup, run the following command:
# Dd if =/dev/hda1 | gzip> bw.office.sled.10.hda1.dd.gz

During restoration, you can run the following commands:
# Gzip-dc bw.office.sled.10.hda1.dd.gz | dd of =/dev/hda1

It is worth noting that Linux boot systems such as Live CD must be used for restoration.

Note: It is much faster to use squashfs. In my use, the speed is generally twice that of dd + gzip. It seems that the only benefit of dd/gzip is the built-in linux.
