Atn Function

Returns the arc tangent of a value.

Atn (Number)

NumberThe parameter can be any valid numeric expression.

Description

AtnFunction compute the ratio of two sides of a right triangle (Number) And returns the radians of the corresponding angle. This ratio is the ratio of the length of the right side of the angle to the length of the adjacent side. The result ranges from-pi/2 to pi/2 radian.

The method to convert radians to degrees is to multiply radians by pi/180. Otherwise, the angle is converted to radians by multiplying the angle by 180/pi.

The following example usesAtnTo calculate the pi value:

Dim pipi = 4 *Atn (1)'ComputingPi.

Note: AtnYesTanReturns the inverse trigonometric function of a right triangle. Do not confuseAtnReturns the reciprocal (1/tangent) of the tangent.
